Fine5 performed in Perm (Russia)

From May 15 until 24 (2009) was held in Perm the international festival „Diaghilev Seasons: Perm-Petersburg-Paris”. This year festival celebrated 100 years anniversary of world-famous Diaghilev Seasons in Paris. Sergey Diaghilev got well-known as first art-producer: he presented to the world Russian music, opera, ballet, arts and made reforms which changed history of arts. In the program of this year festival was exhibition “Ballets Russes in Photographs”, exhibitions of painters (Subbotin-Permyak, Baselitz), presentation of the book “Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes” by Lynn Garafola; contemporary ballets by Bolshoi theatre of Russia (Twyla Tharp „In The Upper Room”), by Mariinsky Theatre (William Forsait „In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated”), by Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre and by Evgeniy Panfilov Ballet. To the program was included also premiers: world premiers of A.Rubinstein´s opera „Christus” and of opera „One Day in GULAG” (music by Alexander Tchaikovsky, based on the story by Alexander Solzhenitsyn).  In the frame of festival was organized also round-table talks, symposium „Diaghilev Readings”, many conserts of contemporary music and programs of contemporary cinema. Contemporary dance was presented by companies from Spain, Lithuania, Netherlands and Fine5 Dance Theatre (performance „Two Trains”, choreographers/dancers Tiina Ollesk and Rene Nõmmik; travel was supported by Estonian Cultural Endowment).
